Pediatric Services

Occupational therapy (OT) for pediatric populations focuses on helping children develop essential life skills and achieve independence. OTs work with kids to improve their fine and gross motor skills, sensory processing, cognitive abilities, and social skills.

Occupational therapy (OT) is vital in helping children develop the skills they need to thrive and achieve independence. Our occupational therapist provides specialized care tailored to each child's unique needs, focusing on several key areas:

Fine Motor Skills: Enhancing abilities such as hand-eye coordination, grasp, writing and manipulation of objects.

Gross Motor Skills: Improving large muscle movements like crawling, walking, and jumping.

Sensory Processing: Addressing challenges related to how a child processes and responds to sensory information, including touch, sound, and movement.

Cognitive Skills: Supporting skills related to attention, memory, problem-solving, and executive functioning.

Social Skills: Fostering positive interactions and communication with peers and adults. This also includes emotional regulation and supporting the child with developing an understanding of heathy ways to communicate.

Self-Care Skills: Assisting with daily activities such as dressing, grooming, and feeding.

Play Skills: Encouraging engagement in play that supports development and socialization.

Emotional Regulation: Working with your child and their care takers on strategies to work on emotional regulation and how to tackle those big emotions!

Classroom Ergonomics + Engagement: We supports student engagement and ergonomics by promoting optimal seating, posture, and movement strategies to enhance focus, participation, and overall well-being. We work closely with the teacher's and learning support teams at the school to provide education and ensure the environment is best suited for the childs needs

The above areas are assessed in a thorough initial assessment. This allows the therapist to get a closer look at the concerns outlined by the family, the child, teacher, etc. The therapist will then provide the family with a detailed list of recommendations for them to review.

We work closely with families to create personalized treatment plans that address each child's specific challenges and goals. Through ongoing assessment and intervention, we aim to enhance each child's abilities, confidence, and overall quality of life.
